Participant Rights

Your rights, in plain language.

FreshMeals operates as a person-centered service. That means your preferences, dignity and participation are part of the service design, not an afterthought.

To be treated with dignity and respect

By every person who calls, delivers or coordinates your service.

To take part in decisions about your service

Your goals, routine and preferences shape the meal plan — not the other way around.

To choose

Cuisine, cultural and faith preferences, likes and dislikes, and how meals fit your household.

To meals that follow your diet order

Diet, texture and allergy instructions come from your care team; we follow them and confirm changes.

To communication you can understand

Plain language, large print on request, interpretation, and PA Relay 711.

To privacy

We collect the minimum information needed and keep referral information in an appropriate secure pathway.

To be free from discrimination

Service is not conditioned on race, color, national origin, language, age, disability, sex, religion or gender identity.

To raise a concern without fear

You can complain to FreshMeals, and you keep every right you have with your health plan or the Commonwealth.

Nondiscrimination

FreshMeals provides services without discrimination. If you believe you were treated unfairly, call 267-902-8747 and ask for a supervisor, or use our complaints process.

This does not replace your plan rights

Contacting FreshMeals does not start, pause or replace your managed care organization's grievance, complaint or fair-hearing process. You may use both at the same time.

Questions about your rights?

Call and ask. We will explain your options and, if needed, tell you exactly who else you can contact.
