Quality & Food Safety

The safeguards behind every meal we deliver.

Nutrition services for people with chronic conditions carry real risk when they are done carelessly. These are the controls FreshMeals operates under and the way we respond when something goes wrong.

Temperature & handling

Food-safety focused preparation, cold-chain handling and dated packaging so meals arrive in safe condition.

Allergen & texture control

Allergy notes and texture-modified needs (soft, minced-moist, pureed) are recorded on the participant record and checked at packing.

Delivery verification

Weekly scheduled delivery with confirmation; if no one is home, meals are left as agreed in the participant's access notes.

Incident response

Suspected food-safety issues trigger immediate hold of affected meals, participant contact and notification of the care team.

Service recovery

Missed, damaged or incorrect meals are replaced, logged and reviewed for root cause.

Staff practices

Trained delivery staff, respectful in-home conduct, and defined escalation when a participant appears at risk.

Scope of clinical role

FreshMeals does not diagnose medical conditions or independently prescribe therapeutic diets. Meal selection follows applicable authorization, dietary instructions, allergies and participant preferences.

Continuous improvement

Concerns, missed deliveries and diet-change delays are tracked and reviewed for patterns. Plan partners can see the measurement framework on the health plans page.

Report a food-safety concern

If a meal looks, smells or tastes wrong, do not eat it. Call 267-902-8747 right away and keep the container if you can. For a medical emergency, call 911 first. You can also use our complaints process.

Questions about our safety practices?

Participants, families, coordinators and plan reviewers are all welcome to ask.
